Soldiers kept there favorite photo of a loved one, covered up safe and close. The loved ones photo on the mantle, is the counterpart. The story ends with the photos being the only future for this loving couple.

I asked if it was his wife • He nodded with a glow
She’s dreaming in Mobile • the sea spices the air

As he told me, I could taste, the cookies she could bake

Swapping many stories • how we longed to be back there
It would help shorten the hours • in the dark jungle air
